Things to do in Upplands Väsby

Stockholm is made up of islands, green areas, and beautiful buildings, making it perfect for stunning views. There's a reason why Stockholm is referred to as the Venice of Scandinavia - wherever you turn, you're guaranteed to see water as the whole city is built on it.

Södermalm features the highest hills where the views are best if you just want to take a lovely walk or sit down in nature. There are also numerous restaurants and bars which offer the magnificent view of beautiful Stockholm. Below you find a selection of great view spots and tips on things to do in Stockholm and Upplands Väsby.

If you need more tips, we are happy to help you at reception.

City Hall

Stockholm City Hall is a splendid building by the waterfront at Norrmälarstrand, adorned with the Swedish symbol of Three Crowns in gold at the top. It's one of the most iconic Stockholm buildings and the most exclusive to hold an event at. For example, this is where the Nobel dinner takes place.

Here, you can have a guided tour around the building and learn about the various rooms and architectures. Several times a day, there is an opportunity to get to the top of the tower where you can overlook Södermalm and the city centre. 105 metres up in the air with a lift halfway up, the remaining 52 metres you have to climb yourself, up in winding and narrow stairs, so it's an adventure in itself for those who want to raise their pulse a little.

Fotografiska

One of Stockholm's most visited art museums, with one of the best views, and also boasting an award-winning Michelin-recommended restaurant - can it get any better?

At Fotografiska, you have a view over the beautiful Djurgården from the large panoramic windows on the second floor. Come here to appreciate the art, then finish with a coffee and a bun, lunch or dinner in the restaurant. At Fotografiska, you're never disappointed.

Himlen

The restaurant is on the top floor of Stockholm's tallest skyscraper and therefore fittingly named Heaven, offering a 360-degree view over the entire city. Have a drink or stay for dinner; the restaurant is right in the middle of Södermalm, so you can easily get there after a day in the city or continue the night afterwards.

Perhaps have a pre-dinner drink here and then move on to the Södra Theatre and Mosebacke, where the Champagne Bar is located on the outdoor terrace. Here, you can take in views of the eastern and northern parts of Stockholm while sipping a glass of chilled champagne. Maybe you have something to celebrate?

View from Skinnarviksberget in Stockholm. Image.

Skinnarviksberget

Bring a beer, a packet of crisps and something to sit on and just enjoy! Skinnarviksberget is located at Stockholm's highest peak with a fantastic view over Kungsholmen and Gamla Stan. It is a mountain with cliffs and a rather well-preserved local treasure, without many tourists.

The best thing in our opinion is to start at Slussen and make your way up via Monteliusvägen, which is a walking path right on the edge, from here you have the view all the way. Enjoy the 10-minute stretch, stop in Ivar Los' park or on one of the benches and take in the view for a while.

At the end of the walk, you can just cross the road and continue on the other side which after a few minutes and a small hill, leads you to Skinnarviksberget and your final destination. You simply get completely stunned by the view when you come over the crest.

TAK

This rooftop bar and restaurant is a relatively new addition to Stockholm's bar scene, but has in a short time become immensely popular. The Asian restaurant offers genuine flavours from the East with accompanying drinks that can also be found on the rooftop bar half a floor up. Settle down in one of the many seating groups or mingle among the high bar tables.

TAK is super easy to get to as it is just a few minutes from T-centralen, where all train traffic goes. When you stay at Hotel Stockholm North by First in Upplands Väsby it is only 30 minutes direct to the central station and then a few minutes to the bar, as smooth as it gets.
