Odense is one of Denmark’s oldest cities, and you can feel the rich history wherever you go. Travel back in time in Odense’s old town, where H.C Andersen grew up and found the inspiration for many of his stories.

We recommend a visit to The Funen village, an open-air museum with a complete village environment where the past meets the present. The village includes more than two dozen furnished old buildings, livestock, a windmill, and a street pond. Here you can learn about life in the eighteenth century.

If you are longing for more history, you might want to pay a visit to the Danish Railway Museum. As the biggest Railway Museum in Scandinavia, the museum houses 19 railroad tracks filled with historic locomotives and carts. The museum is located just behind the main railway station and makes it possible for both young and old to explore the history of the Danish railways up close.

In Odin’s Odense you can go all the way back to the Iron age and the Viking Age and learn about how it was to live in Denmark when the Vikings took the world by storm.
