Hirtshals Lighthouse that perches atop Stenbjerg is the town’s most magnificent landmark. The lighthouse was inaugurated in 1863 and was commissioned by King Frederik VII of Denmark. The king’s monogram adorns the tower just above the entrance. Hirtshals Lighthouse reaches a height of 35 metres. When climbing the 144 steps, you will be rewarded with amazing views over Northern Jutland and the North Sea.
Exhibitions and activities are often organised at the lighthouse. The charming café, Kaffestuen, is open during peak season and serves house-baked cakes. Read more about the lighthouse’s history.
