Västös Strand by First Hotels is a resort with new architect-designed beach villas by Kappelshamnsviken on northern Gotland.
This is a unique premium accommodation where architect Jonas Lindvall focuses on high-quality materials and harmony with nature. The villas are built in modern Scandinavian style with large glass doors, living room, kitchen, bathroom and four bedrooms with sleeping space for eight people, and a 50 m² roof terrace. It is possible to set up two extra beds for a fee. It's only 150 meters to the beach.
Västös Strand is an excellent starting point for experiencing Gotland with places like Stora Karlö, Fårö, local farm shops, Visby ringmur, Lummelunda and others.
Västös Strand by First Hotels is located in the northern part of Gotland. It is approximately 45 minutes by car from Visby Ferry Terminal and Visby Airport.
From the airport: Drive northwest towards Lilla Hästnäskviar. Turn right onto Lummelundsväg 149, and continue on the 149. Turn left onto Kappelshamn Hallvägen, turn right and you are there.
Parking
Each villa has its own parking. In addition, there is a common parking space where you can park if you arrive in several cars.

We use an app-based mobile key system. On the day of arrival, you will receive an SMS with instructions on how to download the app to use for the mobile keys. Follow the instructions in the text message, download the app and then log in. The mobile key to your villa will be activated from 15:00 on the day of arrival and is deactivated at 10:00 on the day of departure.
Download Door Key App
Download the app from the App Store or Google Play. Log in with the code / user you received via SMS. The mobile key is displayed in the app when you are logged in. Hold the mobile phone against the door lock, and touch the mobile screen to open or lock the door.
Remote Help Desk
We have a remote help desk that is staffed from 10:00 to 18:00 every day of the week. If you need help on-site with urgent matters, there is an emergency service that can be reached around the clock.
Practical Information
When you arrive at the villa it is cleaned, and the beds are made with clean linen. Towels and linnen are provided.
The kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator, freezer, stove, and dishwasher. There are also crockery and kitchen utensils for cooking. The bathroom has a toilet, sink, and shower, as well as a washing machine.
Garbage is thrown in containers in the area. When you check out, you just need to lock the door. We take care of the cleaning.
Guests are warmly welcome to book villas with us, but we require that the guest must be at least 20 years old to make a reservation.
The beach villas can be rented for both short and long stays. They are equally suitable for families, friends, or business trips. The 100 m² big villas can accommodate up to 10 people, offers air conditioning, WiFi, and are beautifully situated near the sea and a lovely beach.
There are two types of villas available. Both types are similar, but some of them are with "prime location" in the first row to the sea, while the others are behind in rows two and three. The beach villas in the first row have fantastic views of the sea, while the others either offer sea glimpses or views of the beautiful nature. From the roof terraces all the villas have wonderful panoramic sea views.
The villas are on two floors plus a roof terrace. On the first floor you will find the living room with sofa, table, and chairs. There is also a fireplace and radio and TV. The kitchen has a dining table and chairs for eight people, as well as a hallway to a furnished terrace on the ground floor - perfect for enjoying breakfast. The kitchen is well equipped with a refrigerator, freezer, stove, microwave, and dishwasher.
Upstairs you will find four bedrooms and a bathroom with toilet, sink, shower, and washing machine. One of the bedrooms has a double bed, while the other bedrooms can accommodate two people per room in bunk beds. The roof terrace is equipped with sun loungers and a lounge group, perfect for enjoying late summer evenings and enjoying the view watching the sunset on the sea horizon.
All villas have a well-equipped kitchen with refrigerator, stove, and kitchen equipment for 10 people. Here you arrange your own food. There is also a barbecue available in each villa.
In the immediate area you will find grocery stores, farm shops with local goods and a bakery where you can buy fresh pastries. If you feel like going out to eat, there are also several cafes and restaurants nearby that serve food with local ingredients.

All villas have a well-equipped kitchen with a dining table and chairs, a refrigerator, stove, and kitchen equipment for 10 people.
There is also a barbecue available in each villa. Perfect for cosy summer nights with family and friends.

Things to do on Gotland
Gotland is one of Sweden's most popular tourist destinations. The island's magical nature and character varies from south to north where Västös Strand is located. The resort is located four kilometers north of Kappelshamn by Kappelhamnsviken.
On Gotland you will find beautiful natural areas, museums, fishing villages and over 50 beaches, mixed with limestone cliffs and lakes scattered throughout the island. If you are looking for a cultural holiday, you can enjoy everything from concerts and theater performances to guided tours, markets, and exhibitions. Gotland is a dream destination for the adventurous!
Fårö
Just "around the corner" you find Fårö, a small island north of Gotland, perhaps best known as Ingemar Bergman’s beloved refuge.
There is a good reason why the famous auteur fell in love with this island. Here you can experience beautiful pristine nature and enjoy the salty sea air and fragrance of seaweed as you stroll along sandy beaches and gaze across the endless horizon.
Be sure to bring your golf clubs when you stay with us. There are many golf clubs and golf courses on Gotland.
The nearest golf course from the resort is Slite Golfklubb, located 25 min away by car.
Enjoy a round of golf and return to your Beach Villa, relax by the pool or hang out on the rooftop terrace watching the sun set in the sea.
Blue Lagoon
There are many beautiful oases on Gotland, but if you visit the northern part of the island, for example on the way to or from Fårö, we recommend a stopover at the Blue Lagoon.
The Blue Lagoon was originally a limestone quarry that is now water-filled and a popular sunbathing destination.
There are no kiosks nearby so bring your packed lunch if you are planning a longer stay.
Lummelunda Cave
A 30-minute drive from the resort you find the Lummelunda Cave. A guided tour through the magnificent rock formations with wondrous fossils takes you 400 million years back in time. You will gain insight into how the cave was created and how it was discovered in the late 1940s.
The trip takes approx. 30 minutes and if you are a bit of a shiver bone then we recommend bringing a warm sweater or jacket as the temperature stays around 4-8C year-round.
The Lummelunda Cave is a designated nature reserve and you are not permitted to bring dogs or strollers/prams.
