Explore Halmstad

Despite its dark history as an old execution site, Galgberget is today one of Halmstad’s most popular outdoor and recreation areas. The name means “Gallows Hill,” but these days the hill is all about fresh air and activity.

Here, you’ll find several walking and running trails, outdoor gyms, playgrounds, and even a small pet cemetery. At the highest point, Klyftehög, a 13-metre lookout tower offers a fantastic panoramic view over Halmstad and the surrounding landscape.

Also located on Galgberget is the Hallandsgården Open-Air Museum, a charming cultural site that shows how life once looked in the Halland region. Wander among historical buildings such as a windmill, a schoolhouse, and traditional cottages — all relocated here from different parts of Halland.
