Umeå has plenty of beautiful scenery and hiking trails to explore. Try the 12-kilometre hiking trail around Lake Nydala (Nydalasjön), only 6 km from the centre of Umeå. Outside of the city, you’ll find magnificent surroundings such as Grössjön and Strömback-Kont nature reserves, Umeleden hiking trail and Holmön Island.
In Gammliaskogen, the forest near the Gammlia museum, you can enjoy a good run, go for a walk or, during winter, strap on your skis and glide through a fantastic forest almost in the middle of Umeå.
