Tips on things to do in Oxelösund

Maybe the archipelago attracts you, the Femöre Fortress or one of the beautiful beaches nearby? The hotel’s central location makes First Hotel Oxelösund the perfect base for exploring Oxelösund and its surroundings.

See our tips on things to do in Oxelösund below, or speak to a member of our staff if you need more inspiration or ideas of what to do while visiting.

Beaches in Oxelösund

There are several beaches in Öxelösund within easy reach from the hotel, by either walking or riding a bicycle. If you take your car, naturally you have more options.

You can visit the central and family friendly Stenvik, the long sandy beach at Jogersö and Jogersö Havsbad, which is Sörmland´s largest seaside resort, or explore the beautiful island of Femöre.

Restaurants & Shopping

If it is shopping you are after, you’ll find the best opportunities in the nearby city of Nyköping, 10 minutes by car or 30 minutes by bus from the hotel. Here you will find big brand chains as well as smaller boutique shops.

Nyköping also offer a varied selection of good restaurants and bars – perfect if you need to refill after a full day of shopping.

Have fun at Boda Borg

The best way to describe Boda Borg might be “a real-world gaming environment”. Challenge your mental and physical abilities, get your adrenaline pumping and have fun with friends, family or colleagues.

Boda Borg is only 10 minute walk from the hotel.

Enjoy the best view in town

At the top of Gamla Oxelösund (Old Oxelösund) right beside the summer café Oxelö Krog, you´ll get the best view over Oxelösund, the harbour and the archipelago.

The view over the archipelago is stunning, with lots of sailboats passing by. Enjoy the best prawn sandwich in town while taking in the sea breeze.

Stroll around  the beautiful surroundings in Gamla Oxelösund, with its restored houses and 17th century seaside buildings.

Oxelösund Archipelago

Oxelösund archipelago is just a stone´s throw away from the hotel. In the summer, get down to the guest harbour and take the daily tour boats to the island of Furön, Beten and Äspskär.

Femöre Fortet – A Cold War Museum

If you are into war history, we recommend visiting Femöre Fortet, the cold war fortress that now has turned into a museum.

It was built in 1966 and was in operation until 1989, housing up to 70 soldiers that protected this part of Sweden against an invasion.
