1895-2008
On 4 October 1895 a group of people gathered with the purpose of building a first class hotel in Odense. Shortly after they became the owners of Grand Hotel (today First Hotel Grand) with 50 modern rooms, which opened 14 May 1897 built after Architect N. Jacobsen drawings.
More than 100 years later the hotel still is an important part of Odense’s scenery. The hotel has survived as the town’s hotel through more several generations, and the stories connected to the hotel are many. The hotel has housed royals and other celebrities, and has been the setting for many family reunions, conferences, exhibitions, meetings and much more through more than a century.
Today, the hotel is a part of the Nordic hotel chain First Hotels with hotels scattered all over Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.
First Grand Hotel has reopened as one of Scandinavia's most stylish classical hotels in keeping with its time-honoured reputation as the city's premiere hotel. The hotel is refurbished in tune with its original 19th century design and updated with contemporary fabrics and wallpapers. All accommodation will be redesigned as well-appointed doublerooms and suites offering quality bedding, desk, flatscreen TV and wireless broadband internet.
